LIGEN.entertainment to produce new Futsal-Bundesliga for German FA

In the DFB’s tender for the newly founded Futsal Bundesliga, the Stuttgart-based company was awarded the contract for media coverage of the tournament.

Comprehensive media production

Starting from the opening matchday of the new Futsal Bundesliga, LIGEN.entertainment will take over media production on behalf of the DFB with the help of its nationwide filmer network. This will result in a commentated highlight report for each match, which will be shown on DFB TV. Selected top matches will also be streamed on the DFB’s social media channels.

In addition to the commentated highlight reports, LIGEN.entertainment will implement the “Top 5” format, which is based on the “Goal of the Week” of ARD Sportschau and presents the best goals of each matchday. Viewers can then vote for the best goal based on this selection.

In addition, after each match day, the most spectacular tricks and moves will be presented as a highlight clip in order to show the league in an attractive light on the official DFB channels. The aim is to present the Futsal Bundesliga in the most positive way possible so that the new brand grows quickly and ideally generates many new viewers.

Further video formats are currently being planned and discussed.

The debut season is ready to kick off

To kick off the Futsal Bundesliga, Fortuna Düsseldorf will welcome the reigning German runners-up HSV Panthers on Friday, 3 September (7 pm), live on DFB TV. Champion TSV Weilimdorf will take on 1894 Futsal Berlin on Saturday (6pm).

Until now, the German championship was played in a knockout system that followed the regular season in the regional leagues. But now it is to be played in the form of a single nationwide league.

Stuttgart is one of the strongholds in futsal. The sport, which has only started to be  promoted in Germany over the last few years, nevertheless has a long tradition in Stuttgart. For a long time, the now defunct NAFI Stuttgart (German champions in 2014) were one of the dominant teams. Most recently, the district club TSV Weilimdorf (German champions in 2019 and 2021) have dominated, centred around national team player Manuel Fischer (ex-VfB professional), who now also competes in the UEFA Futsal Champions League. The participation of the Stuttgart Futsal Club means that Baden-Württemberg’s capital enjoys double representation in the league.

Participants in the opening season of the Futsal-Bundesliga:
